Diocesan Scouts are a part of the past and future of the Retreat Center

In late September, the retreat center was thrilled to welcome Bishop's Recognition Mass & Banquet offered by the Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting. At this ceremony, diocesan scouts are recognized for religious badges and accomplishments.

For many years, this event took place here with the Sisters of St. Joseph. 2023 marks the first time for the retreat center to host this special ceremony.

At the retreat center, we are proud recipients of seven Eagle Scout Projects, listed below. We welcome more Boy Scout Eagle Projects and Girl Scout Gold Star Projects at the Retreat Center. In addition, the retreat center offers primitive camping opportunities for Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops of the pastorates of the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana behind St. Katharine Hall on our 40-acre campus.

The cost is $5 per camper, including adult chaperones. The Scout Troop should bring camp chairs, food, camping supplies and adult chaperone's (adherent to Scout guidelines). We ask scouts to complete a pre-arranged conservation project during the campout and leave campus exactly as found.

The retreat center provides water, a fire pit, and an available bathroom. There are some trees available for hammocking as well. Troops may arrange spiritual options such as mass or prayer time, as available, with Chaplain Fr. David Huemmer.
